New Years Re-Solution

Have you achieved your goals for last year 2011? 2010?  Or are they the same as this  years ? Previous years?  Are you still going to do it one day……

The title is interesting and curious as it says when broken down

Re-solution

New Year’s resolution means the commitment you make to yourself at the beginning of the year to have completed by the end of the year.

What was the solution last year that helped you to achieve your goals? And more so did that solution work for you? Do you need to consider re-solutioning?

Yes?  Maybe there is ‘another solution’ that you haven’t thought of? Perhaps coaching?

You may ask what is coaching really in the personal development sense ?

Have you ever tried high performance coaching?

I have coached over 200 clients individually and in teams.

What they have said is that they wished they had done it sooner!

Is this year your year to finally take action and do the dreams you have been pondering?

It is proven that men need to have goal setting to achieve their goals and be held accountable whilst women need to communicate their goals and be supported to achieve their outcomes.

Why do people fail with their New Year’s Resolution?

We get excited and plan but after the planning they fail to follow through. That, my friend is the challenge!

One way to be held accountable and to have someone to support and keep you focused is to hire a coach.

We all get distracted and derailed – a coach will keep you on track to achieve what you want.

One of my clients said to me “I don’t know what you do but gosh it works!”

It’s that simple!

So if you are serious about accomplishing great things in 2012 and want to jump on board, then be wise to come out at the starting gate fast, furious and focused on the end game so that this year for the first time in years you actually can sign off on the contract that you made to yourself!

Sport stars have coaches, celebrities have coaches, leaders, managers and business owners have coaches so this year it is up to you to resolve to stay committed to your goals and finish the year knowing that this year you have done it!!!!

Have you lost your drive?

How to manage overwhelm.

Overwhelm can creep up without you even being aware and then before you know you it, you are wading through a sea of anxiety and frustration and have no idea how to get out of it.

Overwhelm shows up as the frantic feeling that everything needs to be done now. You can’t beat overwhelm by doing more. Overwhelm isn’t actually about what is going on outside of you – it is all about what is going on inside of you. You can freeze and end up in overload and doing nothing!

Recently an executive client presented to me a foolscap page of a “To Do List” pleading for help! “How am I going to get this all done?” he said. I asked, “When is it due?” He said “yesterday!” As we explored he realized his perspective on this was way off! I worked with what his talents are, how he is driven, what his priorities were and he discovered a different perspective on how to handle his ‘list.’ I suggested he go for a walk and he laughed. “How can I fit that in walk in too!!?” By developing strategies with him and he going for walk he cleared his head and was able to re-focus and achieve so much more!

Back to you……….

• How does overwhelm show up for you? What do you think or feel? How does your body respond?
• How do you take it out on others or yourself? Once you’ve got this awareness you can learn how to shift out of this mindset and act!

Do ONE thing that will change your position.
What’s one action that You can do to give you the most impact? And Do It!

• Write down the list so it’s out of your head
• Prioritize
• Plan when you will do it- put it in your calendar and stick to it like it’s your birthday lunch not to be missed!
• What is the next step?

Stop the worrying about it and start the managing of it!

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. -Steve Jobs
